“I feel that I am at my best during the third week of a tournament run, as evidenced by playing two events before last years Open Championship. Therefore, for the same reason I missed the WGC –CA Championship at Doral ahead of the Masters, I have decided not to play in the BMW PGA Championship ahead of the US Open.”

A fine final round of level par 72 for Padraig at the first major of the year. It left him at two under par for the championship and in a tie for 5th place. Speaking afterwards, he expressed himself as pleased with the weeks performance as he felt he didn't play that well. He now has a three week break up to the Players Championhsip at Sawgrass. A good solid three under par 69 for Padraig in the third round of the Masters. On a trickey scoring day with the wind swirling, he had three birdies in the last four holes to leave himself well placed to achieve a top five finish. Eleven under par leads at the moment. A battling one under par 71 sees Padraig make the cut by two at Augusta. After a poor start where he dropped shots at three of his first five holes, he roared back on the back nine to birdie three of his last six holes. A frustrating opening round for Padraig of two over par 74 at the Masters. Having got off to a nice start with a birdie four on his second hole, he missed a number of short putts to leave himself in tied 37th place going into Fridays second round. Four under par led after day one. The start of the golfing season for most golfers is upon us with the first major of the year, The US Masters. Padraig tees off in round one at 10.34am local time with Mike Weir and Jeev Singh. Final round of four under par leaves Padraig in a tie for 28th place at the Shell Houston Open. Out in three under par he added another birdie on the par five 15th hole to finish the day with no bogies on his card. He now heads for the big one, The Masters at Augusta. Third round of one under par 71 for Padraig. Three birdies mixed with two bogies made up his card. Second round of one over par leaves Padraig just making the cut at the Shell Houston Open. Two early bogies had him on the back foot but he rsponed well with three birdies before a disasterous double bogie on the par three 14th hole. A final bogie on the 18th left him with no room to spare as the cut came at level par. Opening round of one under par 71 for Padraig was a real mixed bag! Four bogies, five birdies and nine pars summed up his days work. Three birdies in his last six holes saved an otherwise poor day. Nine under par leads! Padraig tees it up this week at the Redstone Golf Course for the Shell Houston Open. It's his second week on the USPGA Tour leading up to next weeks Masters. He tees off at 8.10am local time with J.J. Henry and Stuart Appleby. Click "more" for a look at the card of the course and Padraigs scorecard and statistics for the week!
