The European Open
3/7/08 0:39 AM
Level par 72 for Padraig at the European Open. A real mixed bag included five birdies, three bogies and a double bogey on a day where Padraig was happy with his ball striking but struggled with distance control. He tees it up late on Friday and will be hoping for a low round to get him back in the tournament. Nine under par leads! Padraig is back on the European Tour for one of the flagship events of the year, the European Open which has a new home this year at the London Club. With a huge prize fund of 506,000 euros to the winner it gives Padraig the chance to cement his place on the Ryder Cup team for Valhalla. He tees off in round one at 08.10am with Darren Clarke and Robert Karlsson. Click "more" for a look at the card of the course and Padraigs scorecard and statistics for the week...
U.S. Open Championship
15/6/08 0:05 AM
Final round of level par 71 leaves Padraig in a tie for 36th place at the US Open. Out in one over par, he bogied the 11th and 12th holes but had a dream finish of three birdies in the last four holes to finish the championship at nine over par. Another disappointing round of six over par 77 leaves Padraig at nine over par for the tournament. Three under par leads. On a tough day he was out out in four over par with back to back double bogies. Three more bogies followed on the back nine with one lone birdie on the par five 13th. Superb second round of four under par 67 gets Padraig back in the tournament at the US Open. A bogey free round at any US Open is special and four birdies gave him his lowest round in a major. He is now at three over par, three under leads the tournament going into the weekend. Disappointing day for Padraig at Torrey Pines as he opens up with a seven over par 78. After a lovely start where he birdied the first hole he trundled along to be two over par after ten holes and well in contention. But a disasterous stretch of seven holes saw him drop six shots which was all the worse because it contained two birdies! He tees off early Friday and will hope to shoot a low one to get back in contention. Three under par leads and five over par is the cut line at the moment. It's here and it's on one of the reputed toughtest tests of golf, The US Open at Torrey Pines. Padraig has been here since Monday and likes what he sees in the set up of the course, very tough but fair. It can play to 7600 yards and is a par 71 for the week. After last weeks good showing at Stanford St Jude, Padraig is hoping to just improve his putting to give himself a chance of contending in the second major of the year. He tees off on Thursday late at 1.36pm with Angel Cabrera and Davis Love. Stanford St. Jude Championship
7/6/08 0:54 AM
A bitterly disappointed Padraig shoots a final round of two under par 68 to leave himself one shot short of a play off at the Stanford St. Jude Championship. On a day where he played sublime golf in tough windy conditions he could not buy a putt as he peppered the back nine flags all day. He hit his final approach shot over the flag at the last and just lipped out to join the play off party. It still bodes well for next weeks second major of the year where ball striking will be at a premium. Superb third round of four under par 66 leaves Padraig at one under par for the tournament and right in the thick of things for Sundays final round. He opened up with a birdie and fourteen pars before his putter started to behave again and finished with three straight birdies to give himself a real boost going into next weeks US Open. Second round of two over par 72 in tough windy conditions sees Padraig in a tie for 41st place going into the weekend. Three under par leads. Four bogies, four birdies and a double bogie five on the par three 11th hole made up his card. Opening round of one over par 71 for Padraig at the Stanford St Jude Championship. Two bogies, one birdie and fifteen pars made up a card where he hit the ball fine but didn't hole anything of note. With an early start on Friday he hopes to get something going in the run up to next weeks US Open at Torrey Pines. Padraig is back on the PGA Tour for this weeks Stanford St Jude Championship. Padraig tees off in round one at 12.36pm local time with Olin Browne and Troy Masterson. Click "more" for a look at the card of the course and Padraigs scorecard and statistics for the week.
